Travel Journal Day 4

By day 4 of our trip we were ready to embrace our inner tourists and put on our tennis shoes and hop back on the double decker bus. They were filming a movie called New Year in Times Square and Scott just had to get on the set.
The whole gang on the tour bus took up almost the entire upper level.
Ironically all of our tour guides spoke English as a second language. Uncle Mark did his best to help her out.
We stopped at Ground Zero. It is just a construction site right now but the memorial looks incredible. Then we went to the church where George Washington first held service following the Revolutionary War. Then of course Century 21. It's like Last Chance, only bigger!
Scott and I took a stroll down Wall Street and stopped for a hot dog and pretzel.
He even had a conversation with a real New York businessman. It went a little something like this:
Scott: So you work on Wall Street.
Business man: yup.
Scott: cool. . . (awkward silence)

Then we ran through the city trying to make our Ellis Island bus tour. Even though it was freezing we opted to sit up top. And I mean really freezing. See the eskimo in the background? : )

Scott took his wardrobe inspiration from the eskimo lady for this one.

We walked back through Wall Street to the subway and realized it was rush hour

Then we took the subway uptown to Dylan's Candy Bar. It was awesome.

We went back to Rockefeller Center and some of the group who hadn't done Top of the Rock went there while the rest of us hung out in the NBC gift shop and relaxed.
By this time we were really hungry and we wanted to do something special for our last night in the city. We learned that the Meridian Hotel was nearby and it was super fun. This was also a recommendation from the fabulous Melissa!
First you walk into a fancy hotel and behind this curtain you find a yummy little hamburger place.
Then after dinner we went back to Carnegie's Deli, this time for cheesecake. Mmmm

It's too bad we don't live in colder climates. You rocked the hat & scarf outfit. So cute!

Haha, gotta love those tour guides that know more fun facts about New York as a foreigner than most Americans know about their own country. It was such a fun trip!
