Travel Journal Day 6

Travel day 6 was a favorite for many.

Jill & Ava. Won't she be the greatest Aunt?!
We started off the day at the Hill Cumorah.

This was such an amazing spot and got me thinking about Joseph Smith finding the Golden Plates and Moroni burying them hundreds of years before.
Cousins!
My grandparents and 5 of 6 children with their spouses.
We went to the place where the Book of Mormon was printed.

Ben, Emily, and Ava
Grandpa, Travis, Sam, Cole, and Kyle.

Then we stopped for lunch at a mediocre pizza place and of course dressed Travis in a turban : )
After lunch we went to the Smith family farm and the Sacred Grove.

Something crazy like 9 people were living in this tiny home.

My cousin Emma loved to ask if everything was "original." Unfortunately the Smith home was restored but it was in this room that the Angel Moroni appeared to Joseph Smith.

This is one of the places Joseph Smith hid the Golden Plates when he was translating the Book of Mormon.

That's the Palmyra Temple hidden between the trees. President Hinckley wanted the windows to be clear so that the members of the church could see the Sacred Grove.
Me and Kyle in the Sacred Grove. There was a special feeling being in such a holy place. I didn't need to go there to know this was where Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus, but my testimony was strengthened by the experience.
The "missionary" boys in front of the Sacred Grove.

And the girls. According to grandma, we are never too old for a cousin picture from oldest to youngest.
