We've been working on our backyard since, well, we moved in nearly 2 years ago. Having finally filled in our pool with dirt, we were ready to start laying grass. The other night as we were getting ready for bed Scott opened up the screen door to let the cool air in and heard gushing water! He went outside to discover that a worker had cut the wrong water line and it had been shooting water for hours. Half of the yard was flooded! He immediately took inventory of what needed to be done and while I got him supplies he began trying to get rid of the water. He built a little wall of dirt, creating a dam and took water by the 5 gallons and dumped it on the other side. The goal was to get the water away from the house so it didn't harm the foundation or seep into the house. Soon I joined him and we spent the next hour or so moving water. Scott cleverly created a makeshift canal for the water to flow in the direction we wanted. I'm so thankful he knew what to do! We were exhausted when it was over, but the water was distributed much better. So we hopefully saved the house, but it didn't come without a cost. Scott spent the next day fixing the guys mistake & we were eaten alive by mosquitos!
